Edinburgh – Glasgow Glasgow is the biggest city in the north of Britain. You will see the embankments of the River Clyde, University, Kelvingrove Art Gallery, Glasgow Cathedral and Fairgrounds in the Old Port. The oldest part of town is an eastern one. Day 1.

Arrival in London. Transfer to the railway station of London. Departure to Glasgow. Transfer to the hotel in Glasgow. Hotel accommodation. Leisure time.

Day 2.

Breakfast at the hotel. Independent bus tour of Glasgow. Glasgow is the biggest city in the north of Britain. You will see the embankments of the River Clyde, University, Kelvingrove Art Gallery, Glasgow Cathedral and Fairgrounds in the Old Port. The oldest part of town is an eastern one. Day 3.

Breakfast at the hotel. Independent bus tour of Glasgow. The western part of the city is the treasurer of commercial buildings of the merchant city of the XVIII century. You can walk along a row of beautiful houses on the Saint Sauchiehall street and see the Glasgow School of Art which holds the masterpieces by Charles Rennie Mackintosh made in Art Nouveau style. Willow Tea Room still functions here. Tenement House is a sort of time machine that will make you dip in the past, the urban middle-class life at the turn of the century.

Day 4.

Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out. Transfer to the railway station of Glasgow. Departure to Edinburgh. Transfer to the hotel in Edinburgh. Hotel accommodation. Leisure time.

Day 5.

Breakfast at the hotel. Shuttle tour of Edinburgh. The excursion starts from the train station. A visit to the Edinburgh Castle (entrance fees are included to the price of the program). The Edinburgh Castle was not only the royal residence but also a fortification. Walls devoid of ornamentation and other architectural excesses, power bastions and ancient guns and weapons (including famous Mons Meg cannon/bombard casted in 1457) constantly remind us of the primary function of the castle. One of the guns (but a much more modern one) is regularly used for traditional volleys at noon. Edinburgh Castle is guarded by the Scottish Guard. The Edinburgh Castle still preserves the royal regalia of Scotland (Crown Jewels of Scotland); now they are the integral attributes of the British Crown. You can walk through the Royal Botanic Gardens in the afternoon.

Day 6.

Breakfast at the hotel. Shuttle tour of Edinburgh. The excursion starts from the railway station of Edinburgh. A visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia (entrance tickets are included to the price of the program).A visit to the Palace of Holyroodhouse (entrance fees are included to the price of the program). The construction of the Palace of Holyroodhouse (the House of the Holy Cross) started in 1498 and was initiated by James IV near the abbey of XII century the ruins of which still exist. Mary Stewart had lived here for the most of her life; in 1745, England’s Prince Charlie gave a ball in honor of conquering the city. Palace hosts the museum which exhibits a beautiful collection of antique furniture, jewelry, and more than 100 portraits of Scottish kings. Palace was erected exactly on the line connecting the Calton Hill with the Arthur’s Seat, the top of the highest (250 m) of the seven hills on which Edinburgh is located.

Day 7.

Breakfast at the hotel. “The Scotch Whisky Experience” excursion. The tour starts from a visit to the Scotch Whisky Experience (354 Castlehill, The Royal Mile, Edinburgh), the center for Scotch whiskey. The ride in the barrel of a tortuous and utterly unpredictable route inside specially recreated distillery will allow you to get in touch with the manufacturing process of whiskey. You will hear stories about this magical art shared by the guides and whiskey professionals.
