Sculptures were made in the quarries of the island, but is still unknown how they were transported to the island. According to legend, they could move by themselves. It is argued that the Easter Island is a part of a huge sunken continent once inhabited by a highly developed civilization. Transfer to a three-star hotel Otai. Hotel accommodation.

A guided tour in English (after breakfast).
The tour starts with a visit to Ahu Waihi where 8 large moai statues are located. Proceeding to Ahu Akahanga, a long stony column with 4 fallen statues. According to legend, this place is the tomb of the first king of the island, Hoto Matua. Then you will visit Ahu Tongariki – the largest tombstone ever built on the island devastated by tsunami in 1960 and re-established afterwards. Now it has 15 statues lined up in a row. In earlier times, the islanders were convinced that the moai protect their land and themselves from evil spirits. No one can still understand how the people could create them. The vast majority of the statues lie unfinished in quarries or along ancient roads. Some of them have frozen in the depths of the crater of the volcano Rano Raraku, some have congealed beyond the volcano as if heading to the ocean. The volcano will be the next paragraph of our tour. About 400 statues in various stages of completeness were found in its vicinity. Then you will visit the Bay of La Perous and Ahu Te Pito Kura called the “Navel of the Earth”. The journey will come to end by the visit to the Anacostia beach. According to legend, the king Hoto Matua made his first step to the island exactly on Anacostia.
