Ischia is one of the largest islands in the Bay of Naples located in just 17 kilometers apart from the island of Capri and Naples. Sandy beaches, pine forests, endless vineyards, chestnuts, olives and citrus groves… No wonder why Ischia is translated as a “Green Island”.
This island is of volcanic origin; it has been known since ancient times for its thermal and mineral springs, natural geysers and hot sands. The therapeutic effect of thermal waters is known since ancient times -even Pliny the Elder, Strabo and Tacitus wrote about it. Mud therapy and kinesiotherapy are particularly recommended as a treatment for injuries and fractures as well as for rehabilitation in various diseases. The course of medication can take place in the baths at hotels via natural sources or unique thermal gardens existing only here on Ischia island (Park Terme Castiglione, Giardini Poseidon, Aphrodite and Apollo). Due to the chemical, physical and biological properties Ischia waters are very useful in various diseases as well as for general prophylaxis.
