The charming old town of Ljubljana is the capital and the hallmark of Slovenia. Owing to a large number of sights and showplaces and the cultural heritage Ljubljana is fondly called “Petite Prague”. Even in the new millennium the city has not yet lost its former charm, thus attracting thousands of tourists.
You can start getting acquainted with the city from the most popular towny location – the Ljubljana Castle. It offers a spectacular panorama that will remain in your heart and mind forever: the fascinating squares, fairytale castles and toy houses lost in a series of narrow streets.
Another favorite place for tourists is Tromostovje. Right and left banks of the Ljubljanica river are connected by three pedestrian bridges decorated with dragons. They will lead you into the heart of the capital – on the central square where you can leisurely stroll through the ancient streets still preserving the spirit of the Middle Ages and look into the local shops and stores where you can make a lot of good shopping.
The old castles of Fužine and Rakovnik as well as a unique Coin Lock will reveal you the townish secrets. You will see the New Lontovzh Palace now hosting the Slovene Academy of Arts and Sciences.
